From Behind the Napkin: Unfiltered Truths About Healing, Hustle & Holding Grace
We say we’re trying to save.
We talk about breaking generational curses.
But are we being honest about how many of us are living check to check, mentally exhausted, and trapped in systems that weren’t built for our healing or survival?
We’re out here striving for liberation—but sometimes mimic the very structures we’re trying to dismantle.
🗣 “She’s not like my last manager”—but what if your last manager violated your trust and never heard your truth?
🗣 “He’s weird”—but what if “weird” is your internalized ableism and you just dismissed someone who is neurodiverse?
We’ve adopted pop culture language—words like “triggered”, “toxic”, and “colonizer”—but if we’re honest, some of us are still acting like the master’s eyes and ears, reporting on our own people, holding each other to harmful standards, and using cancel culture instead of restorative practices.
It’s time to remember grace.
Because not everyone’s coming from a place of malice. Many are coming from a place of unhealed trauma, overworked nervous systems, and survival mode.
And no—it’s not #NepoBaby when a community member brings someone in from their circle. That’s called bartering, community care, and building trust networks in a system that rarely gives us room to grow.
If we say we want better for our people, our kids, our communities—let’s show it in how we relate to one another, how we give feedback, how we lead, and how we build room for each other to grow.
🖤 Healing is a process. Liberation is a practice. And neither happens in isolation.
